Some students may find it difficult to distinguish between these words. Here is a simple explanation:

FOR (durante) + a period of time, responds to How long...?
I've lived in this house for 5 years.

SINCE (desde) + specific point in the past
I've lived in this house since 2011

DURING (durante) + a noun, responds to When...?
I lived in this house during the summer.
